A new company built on an old-fashioned idea.
Alex Hatzis started Driftless Valley Construction in Cannon Falls with a simple approach: build for your neighbors the way you’d build for your own family. That’s still the whole business plan — direct communication, fair pricing, and a guy that shows up when he says he will. Alex is rooted in being a carpenter first and contractor second.
Alex brings more than 15 years of custom framing experience, working his way from the ground up-from doing the grunt work to leading crews as a foreman. His hands-on experience brings craftsmanship, attention to detail and a deep understanding of quality construction to every project.
Driftless Valley Construction is family-owned and operated, and every project gets treated like it’s our own home. From maintaining a clean job site to limiting material waste, we are committed to you.

What does a project cost?
It depends entirely on scope, materials, and site conditions, and anyone who quotes you a number before walking the job is guessing. What we can promise is a free, written estimate that breaks down the work — no verbal ballpark that quietly grows by 40%.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Driftless Valley Construction holds a Minnesota Residential Building Contractor license — the number is listed at the bottom of every page — and carries general liability coverage. You can verify any Minnesota contractor’s license, expiration date, and complaint history yourself through the Department of Labor and Industry’s public license lookup.
Do you handle permits and inspections?
Yes — pulling permits and scheduling inspections with the city or county is part of the job, not something we hand back to you. Our license number goes on every permit application, as required.
How soon can you start?
This can depend on current work load, but rest assured we will get to your project as soon as we possibly can. We promise honesty and transparency when it comes to scheduling your project.
How do payments work?
Everything is spelled out in the contract before work starts: scope, schedule, and a payment schedule tied to milestones.
Do you take on small jobs?
Yes. Not every project is a new build — a lot of good work starts with a single door, a rotten deck board, or a bathroom that never quite worked. Ask, and if it isn’t something we do, we’ll point you to someone local who does.
